Originally founded as "Tanzzirkel" in 1954, the Turnier-Tanzsportklub Zürich (TTZ) is today one of the oldest, most traditional and largest clubs of its kind in the whole of Switzerland. We currently have about 200 members and 50 ballroom dancers. We do not only concentrate on competitions and performances, but offer a secure support in a pleasant atmosphere to all those who want to dance in pairs and competitions. In addition to the general club culture, we also promote:
Dancing with passion: TTZ has been there from the beginning
It is always a pleasure for us to welcome new young members to our dance club. The new generation is warmly and lovingly welcomed by us and integrated into our more than half a century of tradition. The older members take care of the dance training. Here they learn from scratch how to dance standard dances, Latin American dances, but also modern ballroom dances.
Training in dance sport can begin at an early age. In cooperation with the Dancers dance school, a youth development concept has been developed that enables as many interested children as possible to enter this hobby. The membership fee is very moderate for young people up to the age of 18. Pupils and juniors do not have to pay any licence fees. The training fees are also waived.
Our coaches are real professionals and passionate trainers who started dancing at an early age. Renato Minnig, 10-time Swiss Champion and European Champion 2016 in Equality Dance Latin, is part of our team, as are the European and Vice World Champions in Show Dance Sven and Nina Ninnemann. Both have specialised in Latin American dances and teach their students the basics with all the fire of Paso Doble, Samba, Cha-Cha-Cha & Co.
You can practise and learn in group lessons and in private lessons. The latter are especially recommended for those who want to be among the world's best dancers in the long run. Here, the trainers can better concentrate on individual aspects and possibilities for improvement. A special form of practice at the TTZ are the workshops and dance trips. These take the participating members to exciting destinations and perhaps also open up some new perspectives on the dance sport itself.
Lifelong support from the TTZ: tournaments, workshops, guest coaches
We support our members with a lot of passion and commitment, even into old age. We also support those who want to prove themselves in competitions on the international stage. Our competition couples are represented in all conceivable dance sport classes from youth to senior I and senior IV.
To get the full picture, we also invite guest coaches who may bring a new, exciting perspective. Of course, these are always selected experienced dancers who have already proven themselves internationally in numerous competitions. A class or workshop with these guest teachers can be an exciting experience, especially for the young members.
TTZ - a very committed association
The TTZ is not only one of the oldest and largest dance clubs in Switzerland, but is also one of the most committed clubs. For example, we participate in the Kantonal Tanzsportverband Zürich (KTSV) and the Turniertanzsport Verband Stadt Zürich (TTVSZ). We are also active at the supra-regional level. The TTZ is, of course, a member of the Swiss Dance Sport Association (STSV), which is also responsible for the organisation of the championships and the regulations, among other things.
Apart from that, we help to make dancing more popular on a regional and national level. For this reason, there are always exciting events and, in some cases, taster training sessions, where newcomers can experience all the excitement of this hobby for a short time.
From early training to great successes
The successes of our approximately 200 members and 30 competition couples show that our club philosophy and our professional training approaches are bearing fruit. Fun, passion, but also goal-oriented work on one's own body and its coordination is the basis for being presented with medals on the big tournament stage one day.
What plays a role, of course, is the enormous trust our members can place in our coaches. They always have an open ear and give practical tips when it comes to physical and mental preparation for the championships. The coaches draw on their own experience and are able to provide just the right impetus in private lessons that will ultimately lead to a winning performance.
Our members regularly take part in important tournaments in Switzerland and beyond. These include, of course, the Swiss 10-Dance and Standard/Latin Championships, the Glattal Cup, the Bernese Championship and the Trafo Club. Many of our dancers have even made it to European and World Championships.
Not only for members: participate and rent the parquet for a flat training fee
The TTZ does not consider itself exclusive. We give all people interested in dance access to our courses. Our members are financially advantaged by a lower participation fee for the courses. In addition, there is better support in preparing for the tournaments. Apart from that, all other dancers can join the various courses in our hall in Wallisellen.
If you are planning an event yourself or need a dance floor for a wedding or similar event, you can easily rent a professional parquet floor from us. These "boards that mean the world" are mobile with us and can be spread over an area of up to 265 m². For concrete prices, interested parties simply contact the TTZ via the website Parkettvermietung.ch.
Our cooperation with the Dancers dance school
The Dancers dance school looks back on more than 40 years of experience in dance sports and is located in Wallisellen just like TTZ. It inspires with a very wide range of options that go far beyond standard and Latin. Members and visitors can also learn Salsa Cubana, Boogie Woogie, West Coast Swing and Line Dancing through the Dancers dance school or its trainers.
We can also recommend the special courses aimed specifically at wedding couples. Here, they hone their perfect performance for a flawless and unforgettable appearance on the most beautiful day of their lives. Whether young or old - we help all people to develop their dancing skills individually.
The cooperation between TTZ and Dancers Tanzschule was logical from a certain point on. Both organisations have been very passionate about dancing for decades and are also very familiar with the structure of the Swiss and international federations. This means that dancers can excel professionally on the international dance floor as well as just as a hobby with their partner.
